Tameka Yallop
QLD
Matildas midfielder and Brisbane Roar FC captain Tameka Yallop is one of Australia’s most decorated footballers, with over 130 national caps, four FIFA Women’s World Cups and three Olympic Games to her name. She is also living with endometriosis.
After years of pushing through symptoms — including a severe flare during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup — Tameka underwent surgery that she describes as life-changing. Endometriosis has also shaped her personal life, with both Tameka and her wife Kirsty navigating the disease while building their family, welcoming their second daughter in 2025.
Now Tameka is using her platform to help others get answers sooner – particularly young athletes who may be managing symptoms without knowing what is causing them.
“No one should feel like they have to give up sport because of period pain. The more we talk about these issues openly, the more we can help people get the support they need earlier.”
