Doctor Amani Harris

Gynaecological Surgeon

Dr Amani Harris is an advanced laparoscopic and robotic gynaecological surgeon. She currently serves as the Head of Gynaecology at Sutherland Hospital and is the Director of Training at the Sydney Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery (SMIGS) unit, an AGES-accredited program.

Dr Harris holds a conjoint lectureship at the University of New South Wales and, through both this academic role and her position as Director of Training, is actively involved in the education and mentorship of medical students, junior doctors, and surgical fellows. She completed her AGES fellowship training at Monash Health in Melbourne and holds dual master’s degrees: a Master of Advanced Gynaecological Surgery from Western Sydney University and a Master of Reproductive Medicine (with Excellence) from the University of New South Wales.

She is the current Secretary of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES) and has previously served as a Board Director for both AGES and the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL).

Dr Harris has a special interest in the management of endometriosis and fibroids and is a passionate advocate for women’s health, equitable access to care, and the safe delivery of minimally invasive surgical options.
